OK folks I have spent hours trying to search for my answer to no avail. I just bought a 92 xlt 4x4. When I bought it it would not go into o-drive. Well the tranny has been rebuilt and over drive works just fine 75 mph @2350rpm. My question is, how high should the engine rev when I give it some gas at a dead stop? What happens is that when I hit the gas the tach will jump up to about 2500-3000rpm and then the x will start to move. also say I am cruising about 35mph and I give it a little gas to speed up same thing 2500-3000 rpm then it will speed up. It will do this all the time no matter if I have it in D or OD. The torque converter does lockup in od like it should. I would like to get this fixed since I know it is going to kill the tranny and it is just drinking the gas down! What are a few things that could be causing this. I have a feeling that the thermostat is almost toast. Sorry this was so long, this is the first automatic I have ever owned and I am paranoid. Thanks in advance for the help!
