let me tell u..WOW! talk about a brand new experience.
first off, plug and play has not been any simpler. u plug it in, pic a program, push program..and let it do it's thing. when everthing stop flashing...u unplug and start the car.
1st impression, startup was normal...step on the gas at regular pressure and it moves better.
when we hit the highway, i decided to see the difference in the pickup speed..and it picked up. WOW... no more enginge trying to catch up with the gas padel feeling. at around 30mph and stepping on the gas (bad traffic)..no problem.. the speedo just moves liek it is a new car. the RPM maintain at 3K while it pickup speed. i dont like it to go any higher than that. then, at 60mph, i gave it a little gas to see how well it pick up.. it just went up no problem, whereas in the past, it would downshift.
lastly, thanks Doug for bringing life to my ex. and yes, he is very prompt with his email.
now, how about the rest of u group buy people, what did u think about your xcalibrator?

Waiting on mine, little problem with program file Doug was trying to use. He is also decifering the tranmission codes in more detail since it is a new code / vehicle. He has been in touch from the start though and can't wait to get it.

had an hour for lunch today, so i reprogrammed the ex from 87 performance to 87 torque. WOW again. it was actually fun stepping on the gas and zoom. i took it to the freeway... zzooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmm. it shifted normally except at the 4th gear, it went a little over 3K rpm... i think that is programmed. no heavy right foot, although very tempted..just regular pressure.
very please, doug.
now i am waiting for my 1/2 tank to go empty to change to 91 octane and see what else is there.. there sholdnt be anyore good surprises. i dont think this truck has ran so nicely since.......forever.

BTW...doug, if u read this. what difference is there between the performance and the torque programs....besides the obvious. the torque.. of course i get more zip..can i just drive that truck int he torque setting at highway speed? wold it hurt anything? performance.. it does not have as much zip to it but at 55 and up.. it is good

Hey guy,

First off I'm glad to see that you're happy with your X-calibrator. I love to hear from happy customers and request to hear from those whom aren't ;) .

Anyway, the Torque program as you can tell is more aimed at everyday driving RPM's. The midrange torque is something I aim to improve on my programs because this is where you can tell the difference the most, like you've said how many times do you stay above 4000 rpm's? Anyway, you can use the torque program for daily driving and it will be great, also it can be used on the interstate or highway for top end driving too. It will give some higher end performance just not as much as the Performance program. Now you can understand why I offer these two programs seperatly from each other. If you do the mods to get one then it can hinder the other so I simply offer them seperate.

Thanks, Doug.

thanks for clearing it up. fperformance is when i wnt to go 100mph in a school zone...hehehehe... and torque is when i drive not more then 70mph on the hwy.
if i change my muffler, do i need to change this programs?

Naa, minor mods like Muffler's and plug wires are something the computer will, if need be, adjust for. Its not until you add things such as MAF's, injectors, camshafts or major power adders that you'll need a reburn.

Thanks, Doug.

**Edited to clear up Major power adder wording**

In no way rockin the boat doug, but in privious posts you stated, aftermarket MAFs get you nothing in the way of H.P.
Yet you just included it in your list of major power adders.
Please explain, just curious, trying to learn.

With the MAF it's all about the electronics and how they are calibrated. From what Apten as well as Doug have mentioned it is difficult to tune with the Pro-M meters. Therefor requiring much different tuning for a Ford Maf being swapped for the Pro-M. I assume that with larger bore 80+ mm it would require adjustment regardless of elctronics. I'm sure Doug will fill in all the holes in my uneducated resopnse, but that's the gist of it.

Thats cool, my pro-m worked for me, just trying to get some info as to was it worth the money

I considered upgrading to the Pro-M 75mm last fall, but was originally advised not to by John V. when he was still at EE.

His main reason was that it would not offer me much to go to 75mm as my stock MAF is 70mm. Unless I just wanted to upgrade to what he felt was better electronics.

He felt that to go 80+ would also be pointless on my rig with only "stage II power parts". I assume he meant without a cam, heads, or un-natural aspiration.

Sorry to hijack the thread and I'm glad you are enjoying your new x-calibrator. Doug's a great guy to work with  .

Dougs a great tuner without question, but all the work we do can only be of benifit, long term ,with Dyno numbers.
Am certain Doug understands what I am saying, you cannot prove anything,be it MAFS, flashers, Chips, intakes, exhausts, Y-pipes, until you have baseline dyno numbers, than build and test.
You have all seen the B.S Numbers the manufactures state, it's all smoke and mirrors.
17 RWHP from a blackmagic E-Fan, 15-20 H.P from an open Intake, the list go's on and on and it's all B.S IMO.
I have spent alot of time, money and effort on the same Dynojet to prove my point with my mods.
As I have stated in the past, seat of the pants means nothing, a differant exhaust sound can skew what you percieve to feel.
I have posted my numbers and my graphs on this site on numorous occasions, yet those that spend major bux on mods and rave, have no proof other than what they feel.
That is not science.
I believe we have enough people on this site to dispell the Shams, and what really works to build real H.P. things that really work, in the real world.
sorry if you feel I am ranting,I hav to go to bed now, night all

:D lol jeez guy I just tried to answer your question to the best of my ability based on what I have been told by those more knowledgeable than I. And I think it likely that John V has a hell of a lot more dyno testing experience with his products than any one of us except maybe the big boys such as Troll

P.s.
Don't you wish the manufacturers claims were accurate though.
I would have a hell of a lot of horsepower extra.
BBk claimed like 15-20
the Fipk claimed 20-25,
exhaust claimed 25,
SCT base files claim 20-25.
Hell that gives me a 250 horse 4.0 OHV. Woo Hoo.
Just need that e-bay resistor and the tornado and down goes the troll

To bad it would likely dyno under 200hp :(

Sorry, I should have worded that a little cleaner. I meant it as these mods MAY require additional tuning along with major power adders such as S/C's and Nitrous. I didn't mean to put Meter's in the same catagory as major power adders. I've went back and edited my post.

I won't go into it again but as you know some additional tuning may be required if you change MAF's. Also this isn't for the added power they claim but more so to ensure items such as Load, Spark, and Fuel are correct using the new meters.

thanks, Doug.

now little girls, dont be throwing mud at each other now.
driving home tonite for 40 minutes was a blast..like a little kid in a candy store. now, remember i ahave an ex with 33s on it.... merging intot he freeway was a blast..usually i would hit the freeway before hittting 60 but today..it hit 60 before the freeway. woohoo... and i get to pass cars without fearing getting run over from behind. stop light, i gas it and zoom.. way way way better than before.. did i say way way way better??
now the tank is almost empty, i will try the 91 octane performance program.. probably tomorrowafter work. will let u guys know hwo it is.
it is like a whole new car.. u stump it,,it responce..not sit there look at u funny.
