What's your budget, and what do you have now?

I can spend as much as $150 but I have no idea what kind of shocks are in there now. Stock ones that came on the truck.

Try doing a search...There are a lot of posts on which shocks are the best, and which ones are the best for the price. I have the VST Gas Shocks there about 19$ each, there pretty good.

Yup, the Gabriel VSTs are the best budget shock. I also like Rancho shocks, but sometimes their RSX or 5000 shocks aren't consistent, so I'd go with their 9000, and those are a bit pricey. So save some money though you can go with 9000s up front and 5000s in the rear, that should work well, and should be around $200 for the 2 + 2 set.

Bilsteins are about 250 for a set and are very good.

IMO you should either go with the Gabriels and save some money or go ahead and expand your budget and get the others I recommended.

Bilsteins are FIRM. My friend put some on his '98 XLT and *****ed for about 20K miles. i've also heard that the RS 5000's are definately firmer than stock. Then again, there's a thread right now with someone complaining about his Gabriel VST's riding too rough. So, the only shocks I can vouch for are the RS9000X's. I'm running mine on 4 up front and 3 in the back (5 when loaded) and its a controlled but not jarring ride but i like it. I also have my torsion bars pretty much maxed (2") and 4 door leafs + AAL in the rear, so my overall suspension setup is much firmer than stock. (I also think Sports have taughter suspensions than 4 doors to begin with)

In a nut shell... Get adjustable shocks and dial your ride.

Your choices being:

Rancho 9000X
Pro Comp MX-6
KYB Gas Adjust (or whatever they call em)

...and there's always the Edelbrock's IAS for $280. Some swear by how good they are and worth every dollar- me included.

Not me!! :D

You can get Rancho 9000Xs shipped to your door for $210. Completely adjustable to the type of ride you prefer.
