My '02 Mountaineer 4.0L V6 now has about 93K on it. I've pretty much only done oil changes (running Mobil 1 for the last few years). I've had my torque converter replaced twice under warranty. I know I need to get the fuel filter changed, but what else should I look to get done? My warranty is up at 100K or February, whichever comes sooner. I'm not looking to break the bank, but I'd like to keep her going...

you can use the service recommendations in your owners manual. you havent stated what parts have been replaced along the way besides the torque converter. assuming thats the only thing done to the truck i would consider the following check list.

upper ball joints
lower ball joints
tie rod ends
sway bar bushings
sway bar end links
CV boots and joints
wheel bearings
shocks
spark plugs
plug wires
Throttle body cleaning
IAC valve cleaning
MAF sensor cleaning
air filter
any engine leaks
depending on last time torque converter installed----tranny filter and flush
change transfer case oil
change rear diff oil

Are you saying to REPLACE the upper ball joints, lower ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar bushings, sway bar end links, CV boots and joints, and shocks, or do they just need to be inspected? I know the shocks probably need replacing, but that list is putting a picture of thousands of dollars in my head, which I'm hoping not to spend.

I forgot that the wheel bearings have been done once. The torque converter was done in June '06, so I'm guessing the tranny flush is ok as is.

The rest of the list sounds good. I know I need to clean/re-oil my K&N.
