Hey,

I need some help. Is it possible to regear my rear axel with something like 3.73's? I checked my gearing and I have a lousy 3.07!!:thumbdwn: Ugghh.

Also how would I go about doing it? Do I have to remove the whole axel?

Thanks,
MrQ

If you have 4wd and want to use it you will need to re-gear both axles. 3.73s are fairly common in explorers, it's much simpler and easier to swap the whole axle.

Re gearing axles takes specialized equipment and know-how. Otherwise you'll quickly ruin a new Ring and pinion... check out the How to re-gear axles in the Useful thread forum for lots of info and pics of the process.
