Relocated Intake tube

Regarding whether or not that the PVC pipe will melt inside the engine compartment, I have made a 2" intake using CPVC pipe, which is what is used to run hot water. Then I took and wrapped it with some Cool Tape and have not had a bend or warp of any kind so far! And from what I could tell, it gave me about one more mile per gallon. The pic is not the most recent, this was my trial run with regular PVC pipe and no cool tape yet.Intake

yeah, it says i am not the owner of this album. so i cant access the pictures.

I tried making a custom intake too. At first I tried using 3" PVC, but I couldn't make it fit any way. Unless I relocate my filter to the driver's side, which would be a pain. Then I thought about using 2" PVC, which could be done, but I think the 2" is more restrictive than the stock intake tube. What do you guys think about the 2"?
