remote start for 97

Is there any kind of PATS system on a 97 exp. to hinder installing a remote starter.

generally remote starts will have a kit to bypass that security.

The one im getting is pretty cheap and is just the basic starter with the wiring.

Yep, i just did one ysterday, its by Directed Electronics, and model 556u immobilizer interface. loop goes around ignition, black goes to ground, red to constant 12v and blue to a relay from ignition 2 on remote start, reason for relay is ign2 puts out 12v and blue needs a ground trigger, so hook up a relay for that..
