I have had a Perma-Cool remote transmission filter on my truck for some time now. It has mad a difference for the better.
I know some may want to install one but do not want to tackle removing a bumper or get into a timely disassembly.
I found what I think IMO a very good spot. All I had to do was remove the 5 plastic screws from the front grill to find good mounting spot.
Just below the grill is a cross member in front of the radiator and its whole width.I took the filter mount with the filter on it and sized up a spot and marked the mounting holes. I marked the 2 holes that did sit on the member with a sharpie and drilled them out with one size smaller than screw drill bit. It was very easy as the metal is not that thick. Do not over torque the screws. I have the mount far enough to the left that if I wanted to I can go to a super long filter.
Here are the 2 lines that feed and exit the filter. I have my filter mounted (flow) before the transmission cooler. So fluid comes out of the High pressure side of the tranny (bottom) and goes under my radiator to the filter. The filter return goes from the filter under the radiator to the transmission cooler. The cooler feeds the return line of the transmission. It is low pressure side fluid is forced into it. It does not create any form of suction. All the fluid is moved via high pressure side pushing it along.
This spot is easily serviced. Just remove the 4 plastic screws and you have access to your filter. Your filter is also getting a high flow of air from the front of the truck. You will get some fluid spill since the filter is mounted horizontally. Your filter in not full in this position. I have only filled it half way for the install. The pain is checking your fluid level from the service plug under the tranny....LOL. have fun.
If you plan a remote transmission filter, I would suggest do a complete fluid
flush first.
Here is the Perma-Cool kit.
They are available with and without the temp guage. Mine is without the temp guage

This was not a completer writeup, but more of a FYI.
