Remote Transmission Filter

2004 Ford Explorer 4.6L - 8Cyl,(5R55S), 123,x.. miles
just got the X, so I don't know if trans fluid was flush or change

I want to add a remote trans filter
my goal is to be transmission safe

remote trans filter before or after fluid change or before after "flush"

i was thinking of adding the remote filter after changing the filter a few time (1kmiles) also changing the fluid a few time(5kmiles) them maybe a flush

is it more safe to do a flush if your trans fluid is clean?
can you like tell if the last owner did changes or flushes by looking at it?

I added a magnafine filter on the auxiliary cooler line after I had dropped the tranny pan and changed the filter and fluid. I didn't use the remote filter to clean up the system, but to keep it clean after the system was serviced.
