Hey guys, I know if anyone could help, it'd be you all. :) So here goes...

I'm about to hookup my stereo and I needed to know if my Remote Turn-on lead would actually work turning on the following components. I'll be going from my headunit to my 1/2 DIN Audio Control Four.1 (EQ/Gain Controls), also to my Rockford Fosgate 1 farad Digital Capacitor, and then also to my Phoenix Gold ZX600ti amplifier.

I've heard of people wiring their remote turn-on's to anywhere from 2 - 4 amplifiers without a problem, however, do you guys think my setup would work without needing a Relay or having to FUSE the leads and only having to solder the REMOTE-ON wires together?

Let me know...

-Mike

You shouldn't have any problems turning that stuff on. Right now I'm turning on 2 amps, cap, and a relay with no problem.

Thanks Mikey,

Do u just have them all soldered together coming from the Headunit? Do you have any of them FUSED?

Let me know,
-Mike

Nah,
You don't have to fuse them. I've never had any problems. I'm thinking that the fuse on the back of the radio is there for that precaution. You can just jump your remote wire from one component to the next and your done.

Good Luck,
Mike

Sweeeet... Thanks again Mikey,

Also, that fuse on the back of the aftermarket radio is for the CONSTANT 12+Volts (memory wire to keep the time, etc..).

:)

-Mike

PS: Thanks again for the help...

Fuse it anyway for 5 minutes of work less than $1.

You might as well fuse it for less than $1 and save yourself the headache. The fuse on the back of the radio will not protect the remote line relay output. It is pretty delicate, and if it grounds out, then it'll be toast. Then you can't even use a relay anymore, unless you want to use a manual switch or the ignition (in which case the system will come on whenever the car is on, but the radio may not be). Just go to Radio Shack, splice a fuse in, and be done with it. Get the small glass cylindrical one and there's a cheap yellow plastic fuse holder that you can splice in-line. This problem has occurred to a few members on this board before.

Hey JT, thanks for the post...

However, I do have a question about fusing it then:

Where do I put the FUSE In-Line?
Like this?:

RADIO-----FUSE-------EQ
| |
| |________ Capacitor
|
|______Amplifier

Please let me know if this is the correct Placement of the FUSE. :)

Thank you so much again, for your help. :D

CRAP!!! (my little picture didn't work)

Anyway...

Basically, I would have the REMOTE ON coming from the radio, FUSE, then branch off to the EQ, Capacitor, and Amplifier. Is this correct? :)

Thanks again,
-Mike

And on top of that, JT, I have one more question:

For the FUSE, I read that it should be like 0.5 or 1.0 AMPS, is this correct?

Let me know,
-Mike

Mike,
You want to put the fuse right where the remote turn on comes out of the deck. So one end of the fuse goes to the deck and the other end goes to your compnents. Hope this helps.

Mike,

Yes. :) That is exactly what I was talking about.

Thanks again,
-Mike

That's exactly right. .5 amp should do it, if not, you'll know right away! ;)
