Yes, I'm the new old guy...and very frustrated at the moment. The problem is my daughter's '97 Explorer XLT. I have read and followed all the advice from the various posts and suggestions re: the replacement of the blend door, but I am clearly missing a vital piece of information. Everything is opened up, the actuator has been removed and the top part of the blend door shaft is indeed broken. Everyone claims to have done all of this in an hour or so and I believe you...honest! But my problem is freeing the door from its position to remove it. If anybody can assist me with this, I, we, will be forever grateful.

Blend door removal...

Thanks Jeremy, but my actuator is fine. It's the blend door that the actuator turns that is defective and try as I might, I can't figure out how to get it out to put in the replacement door.

Thanks for the reply.

You can cut a hole in the bottom of the box in the shape of a V to get it out. Someone had some pictures on here. Do a search. I did it in like 45 mins tops and have had ac since.

boominXplorer,

Everything is cut out, but again, my problem is: I cannot get the door free to pull it out. I have tried just about everything I can think of. I have four videos on the subject and all the threads from previous posts saved to Word and I can't find anything about how to get that door loose from its position to remove.

Thanks for the reply...

Well, as I stated in my first post about missing a vital piece of information concerning the removal of the old blend door, I could not have been more correct. I did everything correctly, EXCEPT cutting around the blend door seating area on the bottom. No wonder I could not free the door! This was an absolute senior moment I suppose and I feel like an arse, but I will make it righteous come tomorrow morning. So, thanks to all who replied. I appreciate it.
