Does anyone know a good way to get the sticker that the dealership puts on your car when you buy it, that says the name of the dealership off without scratching the car. I'd really like to take it off, but am a little nervous of scratching the paint. Does anyone know a good trick to get that off, appreciate the help, SKINZ

There's a forum here for detailing....that would be the best place to post this type of question I believe...maybe a mod can move it there 'cause you'll get better responses there!

I've had some I actually wanted to get the torch out on, stupid sticky goo, try WD40, then wash it good and wax it liberally again in that spot.

My first job (other than cutting lawns) was working at a car lot as a LotBoy. The way we would remove stickers was by pouring boiling water from a kettle over the sticker. The glue just releases and it comes right off. Most often it just fell off. Sometimes a little residue would remain and we took that off with WD40.

Good luck,
Al

I worked as a new car porter for a dealership and let me tell you. The simplest way to get these off is with a hair dryer. Yes a hair dryer. Set it on high and keep it a couple of inches off the paint. The heat will soften the glue and the sticker comes off with peeling. Now for the glue. 3M makes a glue and tar remover that no lie two or three wipes it will be gone. Wash it and wax it after and you'll never know it was there. We would do this when we were taking off the factory stickers on the Z-71 package trucks. Works great. Oh and instead of your nail to pick at the sticker, find a package of plastic bondo spreaders and use the corner on those to pick it off. Plus you wont burn your fingers from the heat.
