I have the opportunity to rip parts off of an Explorer Sport that has a failed transmission before it's sold for scrap - what do I all need to remove of the keypad entry system to make it work in my Ranger? The keypad itself is on the door, next to the handle (NOT on the vertical portion like some), and either the control unit is in the storage compartment in the back (if there is one on a Sport, I haven't looked yet), or behind the passenger airbag; where is the control unit on a Sport and where does all that wiring snake through, and what portions of that wiring would I need to hook that up in my Ranger (if it's possible at all)?

Not one for the light hearted! It's not always plug and play with those.

You can replace the door, but your best bet is to have a tech from Ford do the electronics after that. Otherwise try your luck. the worst that can happen is you end up stranded at the worst time.

I'm just going to go with a wireless door kit. Thanks!
