Pull Harder! :D :D :D

I know the trick my friend.

Take two screw driver. There are 2 fasteners underneath that connects the air box to the base plate. Wedge one screw driver in between the air box and the base plate as close as you can to the fastener. Do the same with the other screw driver with the other fastener. Now pull on the screw driver until the air box and the base plate snaps and separates from each other. You would have to pull firmly.

There you go. Try that and see what happen.

that was a lot easier, thanx. ITS DONE!!! ty!

You are welcome, sk8volcom14! So, how was the test drive? Did you notice any difference on the pickup with your new Mac Intake?

yea actually i did, its really cool cause you can hear it squeal at high RMP's. and when i get on it, i can hear the engine roar a lot louder, i have flowmaster and of course i can hear that a lot better now too without the old airbox and intake. i have a 98 5.0 and i would definitely recommend it.

did you try lookin' in your fenderwell? My 91 had one bolt and some type of spiny lookin' plastic fastener the bolt I unbolted and I broke the plastic fastener

I discovered this while doing the fog lamp mod to my "98 Mounty.
I used three(3) 3/16" dowel rods. I pushed and/or twisted the rods down between the opening (inside the box) around the plastic post and inside the rubber bushing thingy. This takes up the slack in the bushing that allows the "mushroomed" end of the plastic post to catch on the rubber bushing. I then repeated this for the second post and out she came. With six(6) dowels, I suppose I could have done this all in one step. This was quite easy and didn't require a bunch of tuggin' and pullin', to say nothin' of the cussin', to get it out. This also reduces the chance of breaking the damn thing in the process. Works for me.

mrbeefy, he has a '98, so it has no bolt underneath. There were just 2 stubborn fasteners to pry off with 2 good size screw driver.
