I was just curious, how do you take the factory 6 disc changer out of the counsel? Since I just got my system installed, it is now inoperable and I want it out because it's just taking up space.

Also, I left a full cartridge of CDs in the changer and since it doesn't have any power to it I need to find a way to get those out. :banghead:

I just did this, what we wound up doing was taking the kleenex box out, then theres 3 screws (or maybe its 2, don't remmeber) on the bottom, btw, the CD changerand the CD jewel case holder are 1 peice.. then at the top where the arm rest opens theres 2 phillips screws, remove those 2, and the 3 in the bottom front and make sure you unplug the changer, then you should be able to wiggle it loose, its tight in there, but you know plastic bends ;) if it feels unusually tight tho, keep looking around inside. Once you get it out theres a TON of room in that console, I put a power inverter in there, its very handy. and btw, when yer done put the 2 screws back in on the arm rest pad area, you don't want that thing falling off lol

hope that helped, I know its kinda wishy washy

Thats a very good description of the removal. I did mine the same way,

The CDs will come out w/o power.

Good luck.....

I mean the cartridge is IN the changer, and the CDs are in the cartridge. That's my problem.

I remember it just comming out when the button was pushed. However, since you asked, I went out to the garage amd tried it again. Guess what, when I pushed the darn cartridge baxk into the player, I can't get the thing out.

find a 12v source and connect it to the pin on the changer that operates that, and then press the button, lol, you'd need a ground too of course..

Well, I finally took some time to tear the dash apart a bit to get the changer out and do a little cleaning. The unit came out surprisingly well. The hardest part was disconnecting the harness from the changer  I also took off the CD plate and put it back in so I can still use it for my CDs. I LOVE the extra room it gives me.

But, I still have the same problem about the cartridge being stuck in the changer. I tried to take it apart and push it out but I couldn't get in far enough. I'll probably have to take it to a radio shop so they can put power to it and get it out.

BTW, I was surprised when I looked at the seal on the bottom of the changer and it said the unit was made by Clarion. :o :D
