I am not sure where to go from here and sorry for the long post but I want to get as much information on here as I can. I have a 2004 explorer with the 4.6 and I replaced the fuel pump. The truck ran great for a day and when I went to start it in the morning, nothing. I replaced the pump again and it ran again for a day but then died. The second time, if I gave it over 1/3 throttle it would shutter before changing gears and go into limp mode but I was able to get it home. This third time around I finally cut a hole in the floor and replaced the pump again and the fuel filter. It ran great again all day and I parked it over night and wouldn't ya know it, she cranks and will not turn over. I can hear the fuel pump coming on so I know that is working, I replaced the relays and fuses, and I am not sure where to go from here. right now it is also not throwing any codes. My gf thinks I have no idea what I am doing and im about to get rid of both of them lol. Any suggestions?

Ran into a similar problem about a year ago with my 02 xlt 4.6. I was coming home and it quit just like i shut it off . Key was still on so i started it up and it ran fine. No codes whatsoever. Problem became more frequent until it just wouldnt start. Still no codes. Soooo. Suspecting fuel pump put aliitle starting fluid in it.... and it started up and kept running but only for about 16min at a time. Just enough time to check fuel pressure. Pressure seemed a bit flaky so i took it to local mechanic, who wad only 16 min away, he looked at pressure and said no not fuel pump. He put his computer on it and found after it quit the crank sensor had flatlined. Hope this long reply might give you another place to search. It was a whole lot less money and a lot easier to fix than a fuel pump.

thank you for the response. I changed the sensor and it will still not run. I was able to get the codes off the truck which are p0320 and p2106. I think it might be the cam sensor but we will see.

P0320, i beleive ,is the crank sensor however i have read some posts that have had the harmonic balancer coming apart and causing problems with the crank sensor. Also p2106 is a throttle actuator or positioning sensor. Ive read some posts that have both of these codes together. I would type both codes in on the search it might give you some insight where to focus on. Also check any connectors or wiring that relates to the items in the codes.
