Replaced transmission, having same issues

Jumped on it when I got up. Plugged my ODBII reader in and connected FORscan and got code P1000. Took a 30 minute drive and reconnected FORscan when I got back and here is the log:

Not sure I drove long enough, I thought I noticed some difficulty shifting but the OD Off light didn't come on. Could be my own paranoia though. If this simple thing was all it was I can't thank you guys enough. I'll have to take it for a longer drive this weekend, maybe put it through it's paces just to be sure, but right now I'm feeling very relieved.

:salute:

Any kind of wire will work; you're just shorting the + and - sides of the cars electrical system together. You could take both leads off the battery and just hold them together; same thing.

DON'T SHORT THE BATTERY TERMINALS! Bad joojoo will happen.

I left a note for my brother, I'm afraid I'd kill myself or the car messing around with it. Though I'm not sure we need to do that now? I probably should have followed his order, I let it idle for around 5 minutes while plugging in and turning on Forscan but I started it up without leaving it in the ON position for 10 seconds.

It takes a couple of days, if not a full week, for the computer to modify all of the factory parameters to your individual driving style.

The computer parameters for the transmission also takes into account driving patterns encountered with the A/C on.
So make sure you do some city stop and go AS WELL AS highway driving with the A/C on.

Good luck and let us know -

(BTW - you should also disconnect the battery to re-set the computer after you change spark plugs, spark plug wires, and any 02 sensor, as the computer adjusts it's parameters for degradation in all of the items listed).

Hello,
I was having the same problem with my '01 Explorer. The
O/D off light would flash & then it would not go. I am not a machanic but I found a thread on how to change the valve body gasket and all has been great ever since. Good luck.
