My radiator got a pin hole. After a cool youtube video supplied from this forum, and a little searching I got it out relatively easy. Now was wondering if anyone has any feedback of different brands for replacement. Motor is stock so nothing fancy, yet quality enough that "hopefully" I won't have to deal with this again.

Thanks in advance

Old post I know but can anyone answer if it is mandatory to replace the radiator with a ford part I got a Mechanic telling me it has to be a ford radiator because of the fittings from the transmission please help quick thanks

I don't know that answer but what's the reason for going with a different rad? Cheaper?

NAPA = lifetime warranty ;)

Hi Blazepet7

I've got a 99 4.0 OHV that blew its rad. Ford no longer had one available!! Even the parts guy was surprised he couldn't get me one.

I bought a quality aftermarket rad but the transmission lines wouldn't fit the trans cooler in the rad. The guys at the parts store went out of their way to help but no luck. The manager sold me an external trans cooler at 50% off he was so upset he couldn't get a working rad for a customer. And I listened to him on the phone to the rad manufacturer and he wasn't being nice to them!

the NAPA rads come with the correct trans line cooler connections. i have one in my 97.

I have gone through several radiators. The OEM lasted the longest. Then from there, the aftermarket ones were all good until the warranty expires. It seems like they make these parts to fail so that you have to go back for more.

RockAuto.com has a good selection.
