Replacement spring for parking brake release handle

My 2002 Explorer's parking brake release handle has a broken spring that pulls the handle back into place after release. The dealer parts department says the spring is not sold separately, but the entire parking brake foot pedal assembly is available for $200.

As long as I push the handle back into place, everything works fine, so I don't want to fork out $200 to fix that inconvenience.

The broken spring has about a half dozen loops, and is only about 1.5" long including the end hooks. Are there any sources for a spring like this, or creative ideas to replace it?

Most NAPA store have a cabinet of springs. I'd think ACE hardware would as well.

Otherwise, might snag one at a wrecking yard.
