Hi chaps - I am looking to get a relacement Stereo for my Ex, the one in there at present is a 6000RDS with the boot mounted CD changer.
I think its a 1.5din size and have struggled to find anything to fit exactly in the UK (not a fan of blanking plates). I found this in the USA

has anyone found a direct replacement for the Ford unit?

If anyone has put a standard single din unit with a plate in any chance of a piccy to see what it looks like?

Lastly is the CD changer controllable with a new head unit?

Also sorry that I aways seem to be asking questions and not giving any answers to others - give me time - I will learn and maybe useful one day!

Thanks

Hi,

I can pop outside and take a quick piccy of mine if you want and e-mail it over to you? (probably best as it could be quite a large file size)

I have a Kenwood single Din MP3 player in mine and I don't think it looks too bad although I'm trying to get the Mrs to agree to me buying either an Apline or Kenwood double Din with built in DVD and SatNav - Not having much luck at the moment though   :D

Here we go here are the photo's s I've just take, the blanking plate is at the top on mine, althoug I'm sure you could put it at the bottom if you wanted.

I got mine from Halfrauds of all places and it only cost about £8-00 which is the same as most other places.

Thanks for that - you are right it looks pretty good!

I would still like to look at getting a full 1.5 din one though.

How were you going to fit a double din one - or is it a pop out and fold up screen from a single din?

There's 2 types I was looking at, one with a built in screen about 5" or so and the other was a pop out screen.

I might consider getting another single Din DVD player, which I think should fit in the gap above the CD player adn this would allow me to fit screens around the truck as required.

The biggest problem I've got is persuding the Mrs that it's all worth it :D :D :D

Best of luck with that discussion!! :)

I think the problem is that I've never had a car where all the buttons are real ones! Usually there are at least a couple of blanking plates covering the more expensive options I couldnt quite afford!! So now I have a car where all the buttons work I'm a bit reluctant to start adding my own blanking plates!! Stupid I realise but wouldnt life be boring if some of us werent a little strange :)

Wonder if anyone does a half din graphic equaliser or something?

I just put in a Kenwood with a pop up screen so you never see the plate except when its off.

Wow - looks impressive!

Was it difficult to fit?

No more so than any standard din unit. You can get a wire kit to link the original Ford cables to the ISO standard and a small blank plate is readily available (or you can make your own).

Just a quick question Howard - are you able to use the rear controls for you stereo and if so how did you do it?

Sorry for highjacking the thread but I didn't think it was worth starting a new one ;) :D :D

Cheers

No the rear controls do not connect and there is no adaptor that I can find. Still I just hand them the remote if required. :D
