Replacing alternator ~ What tools do I need?

Replacing an alternator on a 95' Ford Explorer Sport with the 4.0 V6.

I need to know what size wrenches I'm gonna need to do this.

How long of job is this also. It look pretty easy :)

Do you have a metric wrench set?
 






Not positive about yours, but on my '99, the following is what you need:

A 3/8" breaker bar to remove the serpentine belt
a 10mm socket to remove the B+ nut
a 13mm socket and an extension as well as a 3/8' ratchet to remove the 3 mounting bolts.

What Al said for his '99 is IDENTICAL to the tools needed for my '94. So it's pretty safe to assume it's the same for your '95.

Oh, and you'll need a flathead screwdriver to remove the clamp securing the air intake. :)
 






Disconnect Neg on Bat. first. One other thing, when you put that serp. belt back on make sure it is on the pullys all the way. I'v seen a few that it will have one inside groove of the belt running on the edge of one of the pullys. It will work and you might not notice it untill Snappo.

Sounds good, what the heck is a B+ nut? ;) Other then that I think I got it covered.

That is the battery lead ( B+ ) going to the alt. Unbolt at alt. Thats also the one that you put your lead on when testing to see if your getting 13 to 15 volts while the other lead is on a good ground. Test at 2000 rpm. You should really get a good manual at auto stores, well worth it.
