I am not great with cars, but I just replaced both of mine in my 1992 with no real issues, so if I can do it, anyone can.
I don't know if it's different for your year, but it was pretty easy. Just go slow and follow the existing cables and replace as you take out. I started at the battery and went down from there, one cable at a time.
Spend the extra dollars and buy the correct cables, not the universal crap. If you start splicing cables and cable ends you just introduce the added risk of premature corrision.
