Replacing cam chains

Hi
I have recently bought an explorer and getting bits to put it through MOT. While it is not needed for my daily drive I am trying to find someone to replace both sets of cam chains. I have been trying contact ExplorerParts in Newport but I am having no luck. I have tried to contact them through ebay also but have not got a reply. Are they still trading? Is there an alternative contact number?
Is there anyone else who will do it for a reasonable amount of ££££? I'm in Berkshire if that helps.

First off welcome.
Now on to the knitty gritty
Have you got chain rattle? If so when? Start up or at certain revs or all the time? Has the oom12kit been done on it?
As well as the cam chains there are also the crank to jackshaft chain and the balance shaft chain.
The main chain guide can go **** up and should be replaced with an updated uprated version.
The front cam cassette can break as the old oil tensioner would be tired or because of oil drain back overnight (oom12kit addresses this with updated tensioner and oil gallery pencil)
Rear chain cassette can get damaged by a tired tensioner or by putting the ht leads on the wrong way on the coil (ask me how I know that )
The balance shaft chain guide can just get tired and break.
Now the main chain and guides can be done with the engine in situ but the rear cassette and balance shaft need engine out to do.

I say that but the rear cassette can be done by dropping the tranny but the balance shaft chain guide requires the removal of the upper sump which will not clear the front axle with the engine in. Plus the upper sump needs careful alignment on refitting so best done on a stand.

The is a guy Duncan (used to be on here as Duncan of England) that advertises on ebay as whatsontv that is an explorer specialist in Aylesbury. He is not as cheap as Justin but comes recommended for his knowledge and skill.

Or if you're a bit handy with the spanners you could give it a go yourself

It rattles at first start up and around the 2500rpm reigon. It's not that bad but it is there. From what I gather they will fail at some point and for the sake of all the hastle I would rather get the whole lot done in one go. Once it becomes my daily drive it'll be a pain if I have to send it off for a week to get additional work done. I'm not willing to have a bash myself mess it up and have to pay someone to fix it anyway. Taking an engine out is a bit beyond my tool kit and ability. At least it drives at the moment so I can get it somewhere for the work to be carried out.
I'll check out the other guy from ebay thanks for the info and the welcome.
