Hi folks,
My factory CD changer on my '97 Explorer XLT has locked into a weird pattern of not playing CDs eventhough it will respond to the seek and scan buttons by cycling thru all 6 CDs in the magazine, but I get no sound and only sporadically hear the CD spinning. I figure it to be the changer. After removing the changer and applying some hammer therapy the situation is unchanged and I went shopping for a replacement unit on ebay. My question is on the meaning and interchangability of the different unit part #s. My unit is
F87F-18C830-AA
and I see a number of units that look identical, have the same 12 pin jack on the side and the core 18C830 number, but I don't know the meaning of the prefix and appendix numbers on the part #. Can anybody enlighten me on the mystical numerology involved here and which units will be interchangeable with my current FM head and wiring harness?
Thanx,
