Since I'm putting in a severe duty fan, I'm going to replace all the hoses while I'm at it - preventive maintenance & everything will be out of my way.

Does this hose go past the hump or stop before the hump?

(dead links)

My neighbor and I have just spent 20 minutes trying it both ways but it has some "leaking" either way - I will remedy that with a clamp ring like all the other hoses have been done with.

Also, any recommendation on a metal fan? Might as well pull the plastic one while I'm at it.

If I recall, the hump (I call it a flange) is on the end of the tube -- therefore I would want my hose going *past* it.

I had trouble sourcing a metal fan (alhtough I had short notice) so I ended up with yet another plastic/metal sandwich fan. If you find a metal one please post it up.

On the hoses, I had to double up on the clamps to get rid of leaks.

I think there's 2 humps. The very end is flared and then a straight stretch and then the tube gets larger as it bends down to the thermostat. You want the clamp in the skinny part and the hose goes up to the second hump.

Don't use the original clamps, get a USA stainless worm gear clamp. Crank it down until it pinches into the rubber but does not cut/pierce it. I had to crank my heater hose clamps down tighter than I would have liked in order to get them to stop leaking.

It stops at the flare. Those style hose clamps suck. That's the first thing I do is chuck those in the scrap bin and put on a real hose clamp. I only have one on mine, and it does not leak at all. If a new hose fits too loose, put on a good bead of RTV on the thermostat housing, and then slip the hose on. It might be a PITA next time you want to take it off, but it wont leak.
