Replacing ignition cylinder without tumblers

Hello, new explorer owner here. Just bought an 04 explorer XLS, and the ignition switch was gone. Guy said they drilled it out 3 years ago and just never replaced. I have the new cylinder and old key, however i don't have the old tumblers. Is it possible to code the new cylinder to the old key without those tumblers or am i SOL?

You can probably get the key code sequence from the profile of the key. Maybe a locksmith can help you with this.

It cost me $250? To get keys made after my wife lost them all. The enter the vin info into a database that records the keys being made and pull the original cut code. They may try to “pick” the lock and identify the sequence that way.
