I need to replace the MAS sensor. Mine is shot. I keep getting check engine lights. I cleaned it with no luck. So which one is better to get? The one from truckperformance, or the one from explorer express? Any others? Where's the cheapest to buy from?
Thanks

i think summit racing has some also, they finally carry alecs bbk supercharger. anyways i'd go with truckperformance.com i have been pretty satisfied and now they have a 4th of july sale going on!

I've got a stock sensor that works fine. Drop me an email if your interested

I have a Granatelli 70mm MAF sensor. It is a big sucker, when you sit it next to the stock MAF! I got the new one just because it was on sale, ($280)--not because I thought it would increase power right now. It is for later mod's that I will do to the engine. A larger MAF sensor isn't supposed to do much on stock motor, since the stock maf can handle more airflow than the stock motor actually needs. But if you do some engine work (port n' polish, camshaft, etc.) it's supposed to give a noticeable boost.

But, having said all that, I must say that I do feel a little more. Now whether that's just my wishful thinking or reality I can't say for sure. Also, I can now run 87 octane with no ping under load on hot days, whereas with the old (possibly worn out) MAF I was getting ping with 87. I had to run mid-grade (89 oct) or else. So between insulating my intake tube and the new MAF sensor, I can now run the 87 octane gas the engine was designed to run.

If you do get a Gran MAF, it doesn't come with a gasket that goes between the MAF and air filter bracket..so you will have to fabricate your own out of a cereal box.

Vanir also makes several larger MAF's, called "Pro-M" and so forth, and Vanir generally seem to know what they're doing so it might be worth looking at too.

whoa, no way! i told that to someone recently.

I ordered a Grantatelli MAS for my 98 V8 yesterday. I should get it by the first of next week so I'll tell you if it 'feels' any different than stock on my 5.0. I got mine for the same reason as Rhett, b/c it was on sale and I was going to get one eventually anyway.

huh? no way I came up with that idea myself! ehehe just kidding

Yeah J you were the one that told me about the cereal box!!

MAF CEREAL BOX GASKET credited to James T. Abena. You should patent it. Maybe if I ever get around to making a web page about my truck I will give you greets for the MAF gasket.

I ordered a 70MM one from explorer express. Should get it tommorrow. Say good bye to the CEL!

You will probably not see any performance gains going this rout.

You're right, but like we said earlier in this thread, he won't see any gains RIGHT NOW...I can attest to that...but, if he's like me, he is buying the larger maf with his current mods because it's *on sale*...and will pay off with future mod's.

I really don't care! Mine is bad anyway, & needs to be replaced. Might as well get something that I know will handle anything I can ever think about doing. Besides, EE gave me a good deal.
