I have a damaged pair of fog lights but the plastic holders are in great shape.. Has anyone replaced a damaged light bulb housing with something aftermarket? How well did it work?

Ford only wants to sell the whole unit and they want one of my body parts for just one

What I would like to find is a replacement light that will attach to the inside of the Ford holder with minimum fabrication and then I can bolt them into my bumper ...

Anyone do something like this????

check carpart4u. They have them. you can even keep that body part.

I took a look over there and only found the whole holder and lamp...They are about half of the dealer though....

First choice for a deal I would say look on the for sale forum for someone parting out.

eBay constantly has knockoff "factory" fog lights that will drop right in and are very inexpensive for a complete pair, most even have brackets or whatever the light assembly is. Probably the best choice if you want to plug in the factory wires and not mess around with anything else.

Going aftermarket isn't too hard, if you have the rectangular lights, walmart has a pair of Pilot brand cheapos for $20 called "navigators" (which are actually "driving" lights, but they are really kind of an in-between pattern so they work just fine for fogs)..and put out a good bit of light. Of course, they work better if you get quality H3 bulbs (they come with crappy 55W bulbs and a fuse with some wire). If you have the round lenses, same thing, find the round lights at walmart that are about the same size. Usually you have to bolt up the aftermarket bracket to the stock location so it works, but you may be able to modify the lens/light assembly to somehow work with the factory holder.

You can go higher end and find some PIAA/Hella/etc lights that will probably work well too, but given how easy it is to damage these things, and how often fogs get damaged, seems like a pair of $20-25 lights and a few improvements (quality 55W bulbs, silicone to seal them up) beats the options of $100+ factory or high end aftermarket replacements.
