can you guys help out a newbie on this. im not afraid to tackle it myself im not that mechanicaly declined so i think i can handle it. whats the basics on doing this. im gonna try to take care of it on christmas day. so i got a few hours if needbe but hope not. also i just got the haynes repair manual if that helps out. thanks

I personally do them this way. Start in the middle and do one on each side and then keep working towards each end one on each side everytime. When you do one towards the front on each side then do one towards the rear on each side next and just keep doing that.I would only torque in like 10 ft lb increments and do each bolt then increase and do each one again until you get to the torque spec they recommend. This will probably be disputed i'm sure since everyone has there own ways but I haven't had any air leaks on any motor I have ever built. Just a suggestion.

intake

I start in the middle of the intake and spiral out. You bolts should be 5/16 so don't tighten them more that like 25lbs. I usually start with a small ratchet(3/8 drive) and snug them progressively tighter and tighter with the rachet about four rounds till you reach the final torque spec. Use a torque wrench but I'm pretty good by hand. After firing the engine for a few heat cycles retorque the intake as best asx you can just to see if any thing losened up. If taken of intakes where all the intake bolts were lose and the intake was still sealed. Once it sets up it should be good. You planning on using the end intake gaskets or useing a sealer? I've never been a fan of end seals.
