Return from Naches trail, Funy/Moon rocks

I picked up an 92 Navajo with slight front end damage today...they couldn't get it started, after the accident. It wasn't the Fuel Pump Cutoff Switch. So they sold it to me.

I fought for 3 or 4 hours trying to get it started myself. But luckily I have the entire library that IS ExplorerForum.com, and the 1992 Ford Rapair CD...

The EDIS Module on the Core Support was damaged in the accident, causing a No-Spark issue. And once again, I was lucky enough to have a spare (or 3) around to fix it.

So now I have a 1992 Explorer 2WD 4Dr. in the midst of a V8 swap, a 1993 Explorer 4WD 4Dr. with a bad lifter tick and no Oil Pressure. And now I have a 1992 Navajo....

Now that I have the motor running in the Navajo, It's going into the `93. That will happen tomorrow.

The motor that is in the `93 Explorer now will be opened up, and if I can find the problem, I will fix it and put that motor in the Navajo...

...to be continued...

Ryan, do your research and search the forums. The 91-92 Explorers had different wiring and possibly cams as well from the 93-94's. I am not sure about the Navajo's, but the easiest way to tell is to look at the two large plugs below the alternator that connect the engine bay wiring harness's to the motor harness. If one uses round plugs and the other uses square plugs, you might run into issues. The bad news is you can't just swap the computers to solve the problem. You have to swap both engine bay harness's (power and computer) and also the behind the dash harness. Its a PITA, but it is much better than the alternative of countless hours of chasing wire colors and splicing. Believe me, I've done both and the swap method id much faster and pretty much plug and play.

The motor that is in there is a replacement motor...The motor is dated 9/93. My Explorer was built 5/93.

So no worries on the wiring...

In my White `92, I put a 94 Motor in there. I just re-used all the accessories, and used the `92 Upper intake.

hey everyone this is forrest just stopped by to check out the pics, hopefully next time i will get some more time on the trail with you all. glad to hear you made it home ok ryan. i will try to get my photos onto photo bucket as soon as possible

Hey Ryan, wana sell me the doors off the navajo?

I'm thinking of making it into a trail rig....I gotta get the motor running right though...

I'll let you know either way...

I swapped the entire Engine Harness, and I am getting a mis-fire.

I put all new plugs in there tonight, and it helped a LITTLE bit...but not much.

The motor is dated 9/93. My Explorer is dated 5/93. I can tell they swapped the harness to get it in the Navajo in the first place. So all I have done, is changed it back...

I have checked all vacuum lines, all fine. I am going to swap injectors over tomorrow. From the known good ones from my original motor...

Got any other suggestions?

Ryan

I didn't get to swapping the injectors...the problem cleared up while driving on my way to work today..it idles just fine now...no lugging, no misfire.
