2006 Explorer XLT
Hi All
Completely new to the forum and have just picked up my first explorer (2006 XLT) didn't like the factory head unit so fitted a JVC KW-AVX800
http://www.jvc-me.com/productDetails.asp?prodid=1087
I have managed to wire it in without too much trouble, but if anyone knows what the wire colours are to the stock harness I would appreciate the information as I am left with a few cables that would be the icing on the cake.
However, the real question is where and what colour is the reverse sensor/switch wire is as I want to fit a camera.
Any info greatfully received

looks like a nice radio. Just order a wiring harness and get the chrysler antenna adaptor. If you are in the states a best buy or a circuit city should have the parts in stock. Also unless you want to try and fab something up you will need the dash kit also. metra makes one for the double din radio. this is the one you will need.

As for reverse wire. just pop out the tail light and test the bulb with a tester and wire to that and run a wire up for the camera.

Unfortunately I live in the Sultanate of Oman, so getting a harness is not that easy. good point about the reverse light though, I'll check it out
Cheers

Try this for wire colors may or may not be correct. should be though.

12Volt blue/red
Ground black/blue
Ignition green/white
LF speaker +/- white - white/brown
RF speaker +/- white/purple - white/orange
LR speaker +/- brown/green - brown/yellow
RR speaker +/- brown/white - brown/blue

test with a multi meter.

You may want to try ebay and might should be able to buy the items off of there.

These are also the US model explorer so they might be the same

Thanks Aaron
That follows the harness I have
Any ideas what the following remaining wires are?
Grey/Yellow Stripe
Pale Blue/white Stripe
Brown
There is also a second harness which I assume is for steering controls, is this correct?

My tech info didnt give me what those colors are for. I would just not use them. They might be for a illumination. If you really want to know just hook a DMM up to them and turn the parking lights on. if they gain voltage then that is what they are. I am not sure what the other plug is for. I just used a harness in mine.

02 explorer. i need the color wire for a reverse signal for my backup cam..

black and pink was constant which i found in the drivers kick panel..

any ideas?

Looks like the reverse wire on my car is brown and light blue (I checked the brake light in the rear) but that kick panel seems to be on there pretty tight. Does anyone have suggestions on getting behind it? I am afraid I am going to break it.

Update:
Remove the hood release handle torx screw then the handle pops off. Lift the floorboard, or whatever the the part step on then lift the kick panel from under it. It just comes out, exposing all those wires.
