Right Power to Subs? (Audio Guys, Come On In)

Hey man chill....I didn't say anything. I just wanna get the right amp. Would the Kicker 600.1 do the trick, after all its made by the same company and the RMS and peaks are the same. I think thats what I'm gonna get, what do y'all think?

well, you've alredy shown on this thread that you don't...

how does being a dj correlate with understanding gain?

as far as amps and pricing go, the going rate for quality is a buck a watt. and as far as power handling, better quality subs are more efficient, which means that as well as being able to handle large amounts of power, they can also operate on less. if you've never had a big sub in your truck, you are gonna have lots o thump with even 200 watts. but a good quality amp making 800 plus watts with the gain turned down is going to do the same thing, but much more easily. it's like turning 35 inch tires with a v-8 versus a four banger. they will both do it, it just depends on what kinda life you want out of your components. i would go with the 400-800 watt range, and use a dual channel bridged amp, as that's gonna be way cheaper than one of the big monoblocks, while giving you more wiring options. send me a pm and i will send you some sample wiring diagrams.

those amps are a great deal, but a little bit of a crapshoot. i had one that melted fuses as a hobby, even when run very softly. but i had a four-channel that i ran subs with, and i TRIED to break it, but could not.

Well for the price, I think I'll give it a shot. It seems to have everything I need. Thanks to everyone who posted and helped me with this.
