I was wondering if an RFX9420 is really more worth it than a RFX9220. It has some differences in the specs, but I really don't know that much about audio. Could someone help me out?
The 9420 has 8-volt preouts. Important if you plan to add amps. The 9420 also has a much nicer display and a better look to it(imo). It also appears that the 9420 does NOT have a built-in amplifier which means you would have to use external amps for both the door speakers and subs.
Ok, I do want to add external amps, but am I getting a better radio with the 9420? its like $200 more expensive than the 9220 and it doesn't even have internal amp.
A radio with no internal amp and hi-volt outputs is going to provide a cleaner signal to your amps. It is definately worth the extra money because in addition to the better outputs it has a much better display. To me that makes it worth it. You may feel differently.
