For the last few years Rockford has sucked. They merged with another company and their products haven't been the same since.

If you want a smaller sub, go with a Boston Acoustics 8". I forgot the model number of mine, but it is very clear and hits harder than the 2 JL 10"s I had before. It was plenty to rattle the mirrors in my Explorer. And it hits very hard in my VW now.

no rockford sub that has the work "punch" associated with it is better than the 7500 imo. unless maybe a few year old punch hx2s are what he's talking about.

still though, you'd have to get those used most likely, and i know youi don't want to do that.

One thing people never seem to do is look at what material a sub is made of. Everyone looks at the power handling and maybe the sensitivity #s.
The middle grade MTX's are great subs with rubber surrounds. The last time I looked at the Rockfords I saw foam surrounds and paper cones.

I live in Florida, 5 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The salt air and the heat will eat up a cheap sub in no time.

I have an MTX 6000, I took out of my car and installed in my wife's car. Its going on 6 years old. Still sounds great.

I like Fosgate, only for their amps though. Never even thought about buying a speaker from them. I'd go for the 7500 if I were you.

I dont know which id better but ive had a set of Rockford Fosgates that are about 8 years old and they are still fine. A guy from the audio store told me that the new Rockford subs werent as good as the old ones and I wasnt buying subs.

8 years old is fine. It's in the last few years that Rockford sucks.

I had a 200W amp for 5 years in the truck (went with it) and it never missed a beat.

The only things i would consider purchasing that bear the name (or similarity) of fosgate would be the 2 rebadged denon HU's theyve got out... the 8240 and 8250 i believe... those are supposed to be really nice... but other than that id say go mtx

I really have a hard time reccomending Rockford subs. They are generally an average performer and cheaper, better performing subs can be bought for less.

I had a rockford punch hx2 15" a few years back, with a rubber surround, and it pounded very good, but for the $$$ I spent on it, now I'd definitely go a different route.

no has said anything about the head unit, it says on there that there is no sub output on it, there for, if you go with the jvc and get the subs, then your not gonna here the subs...am i right? correct me if im wrong?

there is not even gonna be anything to hook the wires up to

You can use any RCA outputs for the subwoofer, sub outputs typically are the same as the normal f/r outs, cept sometimes they have a lowpass x-over, or more bass/level control. Other than the RCA/Line outs one can use a RCA line converter for speaker wires, or if the amp has speaker level inputs you can use those....

well, you learn something new everyday...Thanks
