Hi Guys,

I just brought home my new 2007 EB V8 and I want to get into the console on the headliner where the homelink and moonroof controls are located. I am trying to get power for my Valentine 1.

How do these sections come off. I can remove the lense cover, but other than that, I am confused and woudl really hate to break something the first day!!!

An update to my post... the overhead console is mounted via four clip. Just get a putty knive between the roof and the console and twist.

The covers for the sunroof switch/homelink and aux HVAC are held in place from behind with torx screws.

As for the Valentine One wiring... there is no switched power in the overhead console. For some reason, it seems that it is all constant 12v. I thought the sunroof switch or the controls for the aux HVAC would work, but for some reason, they all show constant power. I tried with the keys out of the ignition and the driver door open and closed???

In any event I used an "add a fuse" at the fuse box and run the wire up along/behind the a A pillar molding.

I've worked with the wiring there for 93-99 models. Yes the big power wire going up there is constant, but is there not a connection available inside the sunroof wiring? It might all be internal, which kills that idea. There has to be something going up the "A" pillar which is ignition switched, I know that the mirrors on mine were. I rearranged the mirror wiring on mine to make full time lights possible, switched by my mirror. Regards,

It must be internal.

Not a big deal as the V1 uses a phone cord for power which is flat and very thin. So catching power at the fuse box and running the phone wire under the weather striping and then under the head liner seems to work.

Thanks for the feedback on how to get the console down. My 06 EB has a moonroof and I wanted to add a homelink module. I found an 06 overhead console with homelink on ebay and got it for $2. After reading your info about the 4 clips, I pulled mine down and replaced the moonroof module with moonroof/homelink and it works perfectly.

Glad I could help!

You are correct that there is not a switched power source up there but the harness for the homelink is time delayed. The homelink harness has a green and black wire feeding a flat push on connector, the green is 12v+ and the black is 12v-. I used these to feed my Escort 9500i. If the truck is parked for a period of time (have not had the urge to see how long) the Escort shuts down but as soon as I unlock or open a door it begins the power up sequence.

I have a 2007 Limited and I wanted to take down the overhead console to replace the dome lights as they are impossible to get back into place just by removing the clear cover. But I have seen different things on this site, some saying that there are 4 clips and a screw holding the console in place, and it seems that yours just has the clips. Any of how to know if there is a screw there or not, mine has home link and I do not see any screws anywhere. Thanks

Typically they all have some lights in them, and there will be screws holding it in right next to the lights. Remove the cover over those lights of the console, then remove the screws. The console should easily come out after that.

Ours are all clips. If you pop out the lens for the light you won't even have good access to change the bulbs.

Thank you "A Wise Guy".

You were right just 4 clips, I pulled it down today and replaced the bulbs.

Thanks again!
