Ok, I have a 2001 Explorer Sport 2dr 4x4, and I recently put a root style supercharger on it. However, when I start it the idle is out of control. It is really rough, Loud, and there is a little bit of black exhaust. I have been trouble shooting for about a week now and can not seem to figure this one out. Also, the power brakes stopped working, I almost think that it is not getting enough air to the engine at idle. I am almost thinking the Idle air bypass valve is broken, but this happened right after i put the supercharger on it. Before i put it on it was fine. Any suggestions would be great.

Check all the wiring, i dont know anything about superchargers or really 2001 explorers, but I usually check my wiring on anything first before i dig too far in case theres something popped off lol.

Good luck to ya

Welcome to this forum! It sounds like it could be a few different things. Did you do anything to the MAF sensor when you installed this supercharger? Do you have any CEL coming on? Have you checked for any vacuum leaks? Was any wiring unplugged, like the IAC, TPS, or MAF? Check the MAF for a broken sense wire inside of it. Look at this thread for some detailed pictures of it: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154711
