My friend just bought a '95 Explorer Expedition 2dr 4.0 last week with 135k miles. It runs great when you're on the move, but it's hard to start and idles really rough. The EGR valve vacuum diaphragm is rusted almost completely off, and the CEL comes on after about 5-10 minutes of driving. I haven't taken the plugs out and looked at them yet, but I did pull the plug wires off from the coil pack one by one, and each one made it idle worse. It's not unsteady like it's revving up and down, it just sounds like it's going to die. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks for any help, I'll update if I find anything.

OHV. I just found something strange. My cousin, who's had 3 Explorers, mentioned something about "valve stick". I know I've heard problems before about one of the 4.0 engines having problems with the valve system, but I thought it was the SOHC.

Here's the thing, I was back at the exhaust, and if you put your hand against the tail pipe, every few seconds it sucks in. Could an exhaust valve be sticking?
