rough ride

Hi there, I have 2000 sport, and while I love it to death, is there anything I could do to soften up the ride somewhat?

Check the tire pressure. If it is too high, it could be causing a rough ride.

check if your springs are flat and/or your shocks need replacing

i second that. cehck your shocks. rock the car back and forth, if it rocks more than 2 times after you let go your shock are prolly shot, and in need of replacement.

All of what the previous posters suggested checking are good tips and can identify problem areas that could worsen your ride. However, you have to remember that these vehicles have a suspension setup (Torsion bars on the front and leaf springs on the rear) that is not condusive for a smooth ride regardless if you have no problems. Mine has new tires, fairly new shocks and a solid front supension, but it still has a somewhat rough ride. The new shocks and tires did help though. My wifes 2008 Ex, which has a more car-like supension, rides soooo much better.

Or hop in my 94 if you want to see rough ride with a TTB front axle and 34 psi in the tires.I would just make sure your tires are at 30-32 psi and that the shocks aren't worn out,you would be surprised how many people never replace their shocks.

I'd love to upgrade to a new ex, believe me. I'm thinking in a few months to upgrading to something like that, and givin my son the 2000 sport. I actually like the new ex's a lot.

You got that right.I can't want to see how it rides on 6 ply 31's.

Sports have a shorter wheel base as well which is going to ride more choppy. On both 4dr trucks I have Reflex shocks in the front and Max-Air shocks in the rear, best driving 2nd gens I've ever been in, firm and well controlled but not harsh. Lot has to do with tires as well, I had Wrangler RTS and they were utter crap, rode like crap and ****ty traction in wet, Sumitomo HTR Sports (A/T) rode and handled so much better.
