I have read many posts on this issue. So far I replaced the MAF sensor, ECT sensor, spark plugs & wires & thermostat but still have the same problem. I get a fuel system too lean message on the computer (P00171 I think). Really thought the ECT sensor was going to fix the problem. I see a lot about the Air Temp. Sensor, but cannot find where it is located on the vehicle. I called a Ford parts dealer and he told me it is either in the air duct or the intake manifold. Not on the air duct where my Haynes manual shows it, and don't see it anywhere on the manifold. Does this sensor exist on 2001 models? If so anyone know where the heck it is?

Finally figured it out. Lower intake manifold gasket needed to be replaced.

Ah Yes, the old 00M12 resurfaces again.....;)

haha, an yes i am begining to think this is my problem more and more...haha

i'm having trouble on cold starts, it will start fine but almost die.

anyone know how much the 00m12 recall kit is?

I bought the gaskets at a local ma + pa auto parts store for $18. You have to buy the upper and lower intake gaskets together as a kit.

holy cow, 18 bucks, nice, i'm getting the kit and doing this on my spring break.

I got the Ford kit which includes the oil gallery volume limiting plug and the revised cam chain tensioner. That's what the 00M12 kit includes.
