round black ball in engine bay

hi guy i have a quesion when i was installing my DIY CAI i noticed 2 red skinny tubes like coffee straws but a little bit bigger that whent into one black plug they started behind the passenger headlight area and i noticed that there was a black ball about the size of a baseball down by the coolant resevor that had a empty plug port and when i plugged it in it fit what is the ball thing??....

update i just broke the 2 tubes they snapped in half because i thought they were red power wires i unplugged it and it hissed then snapped

that's to do with your HVAC system, without it working properly you probably won't get any ventilation direction change... check it

Its a vacuum reservoir. Just get some vacuum tubing of the proper ID and replace the plastic line that broke.
