RPM gauge going nuts

Ok, lately, my rpm gauge like goes up and stays around 4,000 rpm. now sometimes it will come back down and act normal, but usually it stays up at 4,000 rpm

whats up!?!?! it doesnt bother me but i wanna know.

is your engine idle speed changing also or is the guage just being funky?
