RPM gauge

Hey guys I bought my 91 explorer less than a year ago and when I bought it the RPM gauge didnt work. It just flickers around. I want to get it fixed. Does anyone know how I can fix it myself or how much it would cost to get it working properly. Thanks!

"tachometer" That is a strange one. It bounces around within the range the engine is in? Or just all over the place?

Yeah it will like start off at the 2 then it will like act like its working except its starting at the 2. But a few seconds later it will flicker up to the 4 and do the same thing. It just keeps and going back in forth like every 10-15 seconds. Its all over the place pretty much. Any ideas what i can do?
