Seems like my 98 explorer sport does not get very good gas mileage,I do have the trailoring package and was wundering if a speed of say 70 mph would hold an rpm of around 2500, is this normal or do I need to have it checked out???

V6 or V8?

If its a V6, then thats what my 92 is at at about 70. If its a V8, now im now mechanic, but i'd say, ask one.

After the K&N drop in air filter and Flowmaster muffler, my V6, 1997 SOH would hold in 2,400+ at 75 mph.

Trailer package comes with 3.73s. Change to 3.27s (V6) or 3.08s (V8) for better mileage. See today's post under "Modified Explorations".

By the way, air filters and exhaust systems don't change rpm - it's a mechanical connection.

I have a 96 4.0 with 3.55 gears and get 19-24 I wouldnt want any higher gears because of the Mountains I run it would be downshifting too much.
