In my 98 sport that I picked up this summer surprisingly still have the stock shocks. With winter looming I'm looking at the rancho 5000s. My question is for those with them or had them: In the spring i'm planning on doing a TT and shackles in the rear. On the rancho site i found two product codes one for stock height and one for 1-2 inch lift. Was wondering if it will be ok for me to use the stock heights ones, and how much of the shock travel will be affected when I do the TT and shackles with the stock size shock.

Ideally I would like to do it all at once I'm just having trouble finding some decently priced warrior shackles where I live.

All insights are welcome as I understand some do swear by others like monroe and bilstein

I just added some Rancho RS5000 shocks when I installed a Pro-Comp add-a-leaf and did the TT up front. I ordered the Rancho's for a lifted suspension (1-2.5" or whatever). I got about an inch of lift from the add-a-leaf and less than 1" with the TT.

I compared the shocks I removed (unknown brand, but assumed to be a stock type replacement) to the Ranchos. Side-by-side, they were identical in compressed length. I didn't check their extended lengths.

So I'd say you're good to go either way. Most people run the stock length shocks even with shackles and 2" TT.

awesome thanks for the heads up. Also how are you liking the AAL? I hear they stiffen up the rear pretty good.

I forgot to do a bumper bounce test prior to the AAL, but afterwards, the bumper is fairly hard to push down- which is exactly why I went with AAL instead of shackles, they add a little bit of load carrying capacity to the truck.

Driving impressions are good. It's hard to tell exactly what to attribute to the AAL and what to attribute to the new shocks. It's definitely stiffer, but not uncivil by any means.

I have rancho 5000s on my truck with shackles and tt. It just bought the shocks meant for stock truck and haven't had any problems. These shocks made a great improvement but i still had the stockers on with 120,x.. on the clock.

I've got the Go Rancho shocks on my car. I think they're great. I don't know how good the ride was when it was new. I'm the 3rd owner and I took over at close to 200,000 miles. But the new Go Rancho shocks rode better than OEM with 200,000 miles. Amazing that the OEM had 200,000 miles, right? Not really. Very few things were changed. Just the oil, oil filter, and air filter. Maybe a couple of sets of brakes. I was shocked how it was still running on factory fill tranny fluid, transfer case fluid, and differential fluid. But you know what they say about "Built Ford Tough".
