RS9000's

Today I stuck some RS9000's on my 5.5" lifted Explorer and man what a differnce! The shocks that I took off were the ones that came with the lift. I can now go around a corner at high speeds without feeling like I am going to tip over. I can't wait to get them off-road to see how they perform there.

I have no idea, I am running them just plain jane without any air. I was told by the people I bought them from it is pretty easy to rip the air lines off them, plus it was more with the compressor system. I belive that only the RS9000's shocks run with the provided compresor.

Can you post the part numbers for the 9000's. I also run a 5.5" and want to put the Rancho's on and get rid of the lift included shocks. Thanks,

Yeah, these are the numbers Dick Cepek gave me to use. 9179, and 9185 I am not sure which is the front or back, but that really does not matter because once you unpack them you can tell right away. As far as the length goes I think one set is 1/2" shorter then the superlift ones and the other set is 1" longer. The guy that I bought them from said that should not matter though since it was not a huge differnce.

I am in the process of installing a 5.5" Superlift, upgrading from the 4" Superlift. You can get the Rancho RS9000 spec sheet with extended and collapsed lengths, as well mounting configurations from www.gorancho.com . The model numbers I came up with to match the Superlift specs as close as possible is the 9179 for the front and the 9124 for the rear. The specs for the rear shocks are the same as the stock rear shocks. The 9124 has an extended length of 24.40" and a collapsed length of 14.79". The upper mount is a BP8 and the lower mount is a EB1, just like stock. The 9185 has an extended length of 26.82" and a collapsed length of 15.97", as well as a BP8 upper mount and a EB1 lower mount. The Superlift spec for their shocks for the 5.5" kit are: Front-85280 with 22.90" extended and 13.90" collapsed. Rear-85120 with 25.07" extended and 15.07" collapsed.

I prefer the 9124 over the 9185 for the rear shocks because the collapsed length for the 9124 is a quarter inch less than the Superlift spec and the 9185 is an inch taller collapsed. I think I have a better chance of bottoming out my shocks rather than them limiting my upward travel. Maybe in actual application both of them would work fine with an unmodified 5.5" Superlift.

Oh yeah, the Rancho spec for the front 9179 is: 22.95" extended and 13.95" collapsed with S1 upper and EB1 lower mounts, almost a perfect match of the Superlift specs.

Of course, I havn't installed them yet, I'm doing the lift next Monday. I'd appreciate anyone telling me if I am in error on any of this.
