I was wondering if the 1998 4.0 Sohc motor has the dreaded rubber elbow that leaks and causes lean codes and poor idle.

I have looked all over for this thing and cannot find it, so I am begining to think my engine model does not have it. I know that all of the 5.0 do and have read posts that say the 2001's and above V6 sohc have it.

Would appreciate any info that could help.

Thanks

nobody knows if the 98' V6 Sohc has this stupid elbow thingy? :dunno:

I have read about the '00 and '01's having it but am not sure about the '98, if it is there it is very hard to find since I have spent a lot of timing looking for it.

Any help in solving this mystery???

it should be there it the vacuum live for the pcv valve its on your passenger side valve cover

SOHC has a Tee on the top of the PCV, and that goes to two hoses that connect to both sides of the upper intake. The TEE is pressed on to the pcv valve and is prone to breaking when removed or installing just the pcv valve. The bottom of the pcv vlave goes into a hose with a large end and a small elbow end into the block.
