hello all,

I just put a body lift on my 98 and now the shock towers and even a part of the engine is visible from the outside because the stock rubber sheeting that normally covers those parts has been raised. I want to know if anyone knows where I can get some of the rubber material that goes on the inside of the front fender wells. It looks to be about 1/8" thickness.
I tried 3 or 4 body shops in the area (Atlanta) and they all tell me that they get theirs pre-cut specifically for each vehicle from the factory. Does anyone have any other ideas if I can't find the material?

Thanks!!!!

nate

I used some 1/8 black plastic sheet I found at work ,it was flat but followed the lines well. Cant tell ya where to get it, but maybe try Home Depot. Good luck

unfortunately, home depot doesn't carry it either. i work at home depot (have actually worked at 5 of them) and haven't seen anything that would work. i'm thinking of trying some other type of building supply center...maybe more industrial or commercial.

Check out a semi truck tire store. Perhaps an inner-tube from a truck or tractor tire could be cut to fit. Or a liner used for a decorative fish/lilly pond.
Good luck...

Vinyl garden edging. That black vinyl stuff that separates the garden and the grass. You can get it at any garden/hardware store. Cheap and works great. Just bolt it up or glue it with some opoxy.

I'd only add that this should also help keep mud from splashing on the engine when you go off-road......
edging might be to hard..... inner tube sounds like a good one.

Let me know what you find and how it works out. I've been looking for the same thing with no luck.

i ended up using a roofing material commonly used in commercial roofing jobs. it actually goes on under the shingles as opposed to roofing paper. it is supposed to be extremely water proof. anyway, it seems to do pretty well. the only problem i have now is that the material is very new looking (it contrasts with the frame and everyting else in the wheel well b/c it is so black). i know that both time and dirt should help with that. i'm thinking of spraying a black undercoating under all the wheel wells to mach everyting up. has anyone ever tried this? i called line-x and they want $75 each well! no thanks. let me know what you all think.

thanks.

Lift Lips... they sell them by the model of the truck for about , well more than scrap rubber... I got mine from 4wheelparts.com

$62.95 right now, prepunched for front and rear with the plastic fasteners.

mahieber,

i took a look at those lift lips on their website and they seem like the way to go. i realize that the pictures on their website were of a brand new pair of lift lips, but have you noticed that yours have become less obvious than the brand new shiney black look on the website? i am looking for something that wan't stick out like a sore thumb.

thanks!!!!

I was thinking about a mudflap off a semi. I think that would work great.

The ones I have are not shiny... they must have sprayed them with armor-all for the pictures. They are a dull reyish-black, match up pretty well with the stock plastic inner-fenders.

Does anyone make aftermarket fender sheeting for non-body lifted trucks?
