It's all good, I used to get a lot of people mad at me. Just a mis-interpretation it seemed... always hard to know if the other ascii text personality was just giving you **** or being a dick.

Anyway, taking a financed rig or even a relatively stock drivetrain rig like a sploder to the con is HARD CORE. I just havn't figured out if it's hard core cool or hard core stoopid


Bring it, it'll be fun ;D I'd probably run the trail backwards after cadillac though. Seems pretty dumb to drive the pavement back to georgetown. Unless of course I can convice my wife to pick me up in homewood with the trailer

i might be interested in this run. Ill know more when the time gets closer. Only problem is I will eather be in a jeep or maybe a toyota b then.

DR, thanks for that towbar you gave me a few years. Also I bought a 7.5 off your brother a few years ago and ran great till the housing bent a good foot plus. MAybe that had something to with it being in the garage when the house burned yup though. Hopefully ill be on the con again sometime and see you drive withot breaking everything.

Not For Everyone

Make sure that everyone knows that this trail is very difficult! A large, inexperienced group would cause major problems for you and everyone else on the trail. I would suggest six rigs or less with experienced drivers.

As far as damage goes, even with 35's, front and rear lockers and sliders, I did some minor body damage. I would go again in a hearbeat though, that is one great trail; scenery, water crossings, and rocks, rocks, rocks...did I mention rocks? Plan on 3-4 days and enjoy the trip.

Also, at that time of year, you will be one of the first groups in and the trial will be thrashed from the thaw, making it even more difficult.

I would love to go. But will only be able to go if I get the x modified properly by then. I have been past the Con a few times. My parents live about 1 1/2 hours away. I should know by early spring.

Hey guys whats up. I have been reading through the thread and it sounds like the best time to run this trail would be later in the summer. If I go I want to go durring the best time so maybe we should consider later in the summer like august or something.

Well, I guess I will put my .02 in on this.
For 2nd Generation Explorers. YOU REALLY NEED 35" TIRES. I was the only one with 33's and I was the only one that needed to be strapped on 3 different occasions. I also needed to stack the rocks in alot of locations to get over and through this trail.
If you are not locked, you do not belong on this trail.
This will not be an easy stroll. It will be one of the most exciting, but not easy. Rock sliders are a must
You will be using them constantly to get over things, pivot around things, and slide down stuff.
If it gets dark and you haven't reached your destinastion, "STOP"! Don't push it, you'll end up breaking stuff. Camp where you are. you can make it up the next day. It's real easy to pick a bad line and break something in the dark.
This is a great run, and you'll love it, but it is mentally tiring from the concentration the needs to be exerted to get through it. One more thing. Spotters, you also have to deal with checking out the rear tires as well as the line of approch on the front tires on obsticals, this will help keep side-walls from getting shredded.

Yep, Ray is right, lots of ground clearance is a must, unless you wait to the end of summer so the Jeep Jamboree guys smooth out all the rough stuff, but what is the fun in that???? I have 35's with a first generation and scraped all the time.

I agree with going later in the summer as well. I think we should take a look at that possibility.

Later works well for me. It gives me more time to get my truck together.

Plus I just bought a house and I'll be low on $$ for a while.

Do note - The jeepers runs are usually around the last two weeks of July, and the first two weeks of August.

You don't want to be around when they run..

Also, if you run during the week, you will run into less traffic. The weekends are getting crazy up there.
