I've done some searching and it looks like I can use an existing grommet through the firewall to get it in the engine bay. However, does 4 gauge wire cause the carpet to bulge when running it along the side? I'm gonna install my amp and sub this weekend and I'm hoping to make a clean install.

So far the best place I found for the amp is under the rear passenger seat but I'm also gonna take off the back cargo panels to see if it will fit in there.

Thanks!

Run it along the door sill (?). Pull up the carpet moulding and you'll see a plastic cover. Pull that up and run the wire through there.

Ditto, and do use a same size ground wire. Run the ground wire to either the battery, or very near to it, or the engine. LOL,

Thanks. But running it along the sill - will the carpet bulge or is there enough room for 4 Ga. wire?

The plastic piece that you remove is where the factory wiring is run. There's a nice depth so you can fit the 4 gauge in there and keep the carpet flat.

Cool - that's what I wanted to know. Thanks. On my Maxima I ran 2 gauge and it was a tight fit but I was able to sneak it under a wire conduit so it the carpet didn't bulge - I hate that

I have 2 1/0 guage cables goin back, run anything good and you wont get bulge :)

I have 0 gauge, but I ran mine along the frame between the body. I just popped it up through the grommet behind the back seat that covers up the whole for the bolt to connect the body to the frame. I have not had any problems with mine, I not real sure why everyone insists on running power wire inside the car?

Running inside is safer. You know your insulation won't get destroyed by weather and whatever else is outside.
