Running board light install questions

I just ordered some running board lights for my 2000 Eddie. What would be the easiest way to cut the holes to make sure I don't make the holes too big? Also I'm tapping into my puddle lights, should I just tap into the positive at the bulb and ground the board light under the vehicle. I haven't got under there and really looked yet but I'm sure the light hook up won't be that bad just a little nervous about the cutting part.

Or, tape off the board and trace the light with a marker. Cut within the lines, file, and dremel for a snug fit.
